General Information:

To all Cricketers over the age of 35 years

As we look toward the Summer of 2009, it is an opportunity for cricketers and non-cricketers alike to enjoy a friendly game of cricket with friends and team mates.

Masters cricket is open to men and women over the age of 35 as at 30 January 2010.  The level of your skill is not important, the main reason to play is to be part of one the biggest sporting events Dunedin has hosted.

RULES FOR PLAYING OF MASTERS CRICKET AS USED BY THE DUNEDIN CRICKET ASSOCIATION

1.  One innings of 21 overs per team. Six balls per over.

2.  A maximum of 8 players per team - 6 players needed to commence the game

3.  All games must commence by 4-30pm or with approval from Convenor and opposition captain

4.  A maximum of 3 overs per bowler

5.  A batter must retire at 35 runs, although all runs from a single hit when on 34 will be credited ie: 34 + 6 =40 Not Out

6.  There are no Leg Before Wicket (LBW) decisions

7.  The bowlers run up should not exceed 5 metres (5 paces)

8.  No new balls to be used, good used 2 or 4 piece balls to be used, red or white

9.  There will be no leg byes allowed

10. Wides:  Any ball bowled down the leg side shall be called and signalled wide, or any ball bowled wider than a bat length away from the off stump shall be called and signalled wide. If this occurs, two runs are added to the score, and the ball is not rebowled.

11. No Ball: is deemed to be any ball that does not bounce on the pitch, any ball that bounces and passes above the shoulder of the batsman, or any full toss above the batsman’s waist, or any ball bowled when the bowlers front foot is completely past the crease line. Two runs are added to the score and the ball is not rebowled.

12. Fielding Restrictions: No more than three fielders on each side of the pitch, ie 3 on the off-side and 3 on the leg-side.
